After reading the first book in this series, I was eager to read the second. So I was ecstatic when they offered it free on Kindle. I got my copy and started reading it almost immediately.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the second book as much because I quickly found out that the main characters would not be Druet and Rany. At first I was disappointed but I quickly found that Trenton and the others did very well as the focus of this story.
I love Nicole’s writing style. She is very gifted. It is books like these that make you see the value of self-publishing. It is well written, but a story that doesn’t fit into the traditional publishing box.
The faith elements in this book were as good as the first one. It is not just a good story, but on that will build your faith. Parents, I think, will especially appreciate a story that will keep their children captivated and feed their souls as well.
My thirteen year old sister read the first two books and then begged me to get her the third one. I must admit she didn’t have to twist my arm. I wanted to read it as well. I can’t wait to dive into the third book
I highly recommend this book to youth, mild fantasy lovers, non-magical fantasy lovers, and those looking for a wonderful adventure story.

Very well written. Was hard to put down, wasn't ready for the series to end
I Absolutely LOVED this book and the other two. Very well written and great flow. It catches and holds your attention from the beginning and all the way to the end. I highly recommend these books.
What can I say but "Wow"? This book was amazing. The plot was very exciting and made me want to read more, the characters were brought to life, and the setting was very believable. I enjoyed it immensely! Nicole Sager is a great author who not only tells a fantastic story but also brings readers closer to God through the plot. ) I highly reccommend it!
All of these books were good, but this one had to be my favorite. I like that she used the original characters, as I had grown to like them. But this is not to discredit the new characters, which were equally likeable. A fast moving book, with many surprises and twists. I like that it has a good sprinkling of humor, along with the more serious parts. A great book that strengthens your trust in God. Thank you Nicole for providing such an excellent and compelling story that you can read with no regrets. Great job!!
I really enjoyed the first book so I looked forward to reading this, and I was not disappointed. I thought it continued well from the previous book while telling it’s own story.
The only thing I didn’t really like was while the characters were distinct, to many of them were witty or sarcastic in some way, I think it would have benefited from a little more diversity in that line.
Storyline is good, building well on the first book. However, I think it is technically lacking (spelling, punctuation). I've read these first two books with my boys on Sunday afternoons and definitely plan to get the third.
"The Fate of Arcrea," the second book of the Arcrean Conquest, is just as good as the first! Spies, lies, double-crosses, pretenses, and treachery abound in this story of choosing to realize God's full potential for one's life.
The story concerns the plans of Arcrea's antagonistic neighbor Mizgalia to invade Arcrea. In "Princess Bride" style, a high-ranking Mizgalian's son is to be murdered and the crime is to look as though Arcreans committed it, leading to war. However, in the quest to carry out his orders, young Mizgalian spy Trenton stumbles on secrets that rock his world and challenge him to make a decision on whether or not he will do the right thing. The climax of the book is a big battle fought on land and sea, with dragons thrown into the mix. Epic!
All of the beloved characters from "the Heart" are here again (yay!) Queen Renny, being pregnant, is not present as much, but Alice gets into a fair share of mystery, and the bitter dethroned nobleman's daughter Elaina shows up briefly. King Druet struggles to lead his new kingdom with God's wisdom, relying much on Falconer, the professional spy and informant whose instinctive violence the King is trying to mellow. Our favorite comedic pair, Talon and Bracy, are present throughout, and healers Rodney and Sarah play a part—they gain a young Cockney-accented girl as an apprentice who experiences her share of adventure. Nathaniel makes his own way in the perilous high seas. His family is introduced and quickly becomes a part of the adventure.
Several new characters are introduced as well. Trenton is the most major one, but he is not the only one who discovers secrets about his past. Another member of Druet's heart-seeking band is shocked by unexpected information as well. Not all the newcomers are to be approved of. The evil Mizgalian noblemen, a pirate captain, and a contemptible spy are quite a match for the heroes. The messenger hawk is really neat -D
This is an entirely satisfying sequel to "The Heart of Arcrea"!
