Confetti Covered Quicksand eBook Amy Asbury

An amazing continuation of a most epic journey from the 80's/90's.....get Sunset Strip Diaries first, then read this one. A very powerful, harrowing look @ the life and times of a struggling girl/woman, looking to find herself. Both books are 5 stars and recommended reading for not only music lovers of the 80/90 era, but women also as there are so many references to look back and remember. I am a guy (that still listens to Hair Metal/Hard Rock today @ the age of 43) who grew up during this period and love all the stories and name-dropping that went on during those days. I can only imagine if I was a woman, and might have understood a little more on some of the "feminine" things and feelings that girls go through. Very highly recommended and I as well can't wait for a book #3 to see how her life continued on. Thanks for an awesome read Amy !!!

Confetti Covered Quicksand eBook Amy Asbury Reviews

I read her first book so wanted to continue and it was just as good. Easy to read and enjoyed the stories.
Okay,
If you read Sunset Strip Diaries, then you must read the follow up. I was more than eager to find out what happened to Amy and some of the crazy/colorful characters from the first book. This book REALLY transported me back to the 90s and my high school years. Where the Sunset Strip Diaries was totally enjoyable and you feel like you are part of the party, this was a much darker read for me, because Amy does such a great job describing the music, clothes, pop culture, etc. from the 90s. My high school years sucked! 1993-1997... You either listened to grunge or gangster rap. This book totally took me back to a very confusing time in my life. I hit high school, and BOOM - no more guys with makeup and long hair!!! I recommend this book - you will be very surprised to find out what happens to Amy and her friends. I was REALLY SURPRISED and couldn't believe the ending. You will NEVER guess what became of Amy. As a small town girl from Ohio (I'm not completely sheltered anymore, but was growing up), I had only heard tales about how vain people in L.A. could be. The vanity is quite shocking as described in this book. There were some very fun moments and some extremely dark moments in this book. It was all interesting...looking forward to the next book Amy!
If you were ever into Hair Metal or Hard Rock in the 80's, you will love this book. Ms. Asbury is a great writer, and her depiction of the rock scene on the Sunset Strip during this period is vivid, captivating, and fascinating. I had no idea about The Strip back then, but now I feel I do. Great book, can't recommend it enough if you are a fan of the genre.
I think this one was my favorite of hers. It is an easy read, well-organized and really delves into her life after the Sunset Strip.
Truthful, well written, engaging, and fun ( despite some of the hardships she has been through). Looking forward to the next book)
Love her honesty! She is endearing through it all. I hope she is doing well after her chemo. Blessings to you.
Confetti Covered Quicksand shows us what happens when the glitzy and glamourous times of the hair bands fades away. It is a time where an already confused young woman, still searching to find herself, has to figure out where she wants to go after the party is over. She name drops through parts of the book, which to me is pretty awesome. Some of us dream of getting to meet our favorite actors/actresses/musicians, and Amy talks about seeing them like it's not a big deal. I guess in Hollywood, it's really not.

It's when she decides to leave Hollywood and moves to Colorado that we finally begin to see the woman beneath the child she sometimes appears to be. She finds that there are people in her family that do love her and sees past this facade she's created for herself. I wish, as she did, that she would have concentrated on building more of a relationship with Billie than she does in the book. I think that Billie would have been able to heal some of the wounds that run so deep in Amy. We soon discover the drug of choice in Colorado is Cocaine, whereas the drug of choice in Hollywood is the dark and romanticized Heroin. My only true disappointment is that Amy caved and tried coke. However, I do believe that it helped her to see that this was not what she really wanted....even though she said she liked it.

I was sad when the book finally ends, and no I'm not going to say how (you will have to read for yourself), but her journey ends happily. I related to Amy in so many ways in her journey through both books. I never got into the drug scene, even though my friends were. I LOVED the 80's glam scene, and wanted to go to Hollywood...if only I had the guts to. Amy paints a tortured picture in Confetti Covered Quicksand, but she also shows that if you put your heart and soul into whatever goal you wish to attain, you can achieve it. I truly felt that Amy grew from her experiences, and is a better person for it. If you buy Confetti Covered Quicksand, read Sunset Strip Diaries first.
